Living Hope Community Church (LHCC) is a predominately African Canadian mission-based Church in the Eglinton East/Kennedy Park area of Scarborough.  Under the umbrella of The Toronto Area Association of Baptist Churches, and supported by many donors with a passion for African Canadian led ministries, our core congregation consists of 10 Adults and 6 children.  Our Motto is:  “Putting Hope To Work In Our Community and the World!”

Started as a Church for the poor in South Riverdale (1996), Living Hope held Friday night worship services.  It also ran a number of social service programs from a small store front space: a Food Bank associated with the Daily Bread Food Bank; Sewing and Craft Club; and a Supper Program.  In 2001, Living Hope decided to move to the Eglinton East/Kennedy Park area of Scarborough to better facilitate its’ work with predominately Black youth.  To this day, through core members and supporters, for the sake of the Gospel, LHCC makes a difference in the lives of countless people in our city.

To better facilitate passion for community based work, in 2001 LHCC established an incorporated Not-For-Profit Organization called The HopeWorks Connection (HWC). HWC’s mission is to empower youth through the performing arts and relieve various kinds of poverty. Since its establishment, HWC has collaborated with schools, agencies, governments, churches, community centres and various other not-for-profits to offer a variety of performing arts experiences and workshops to countless youth of all ages.  For example, during the last three summers we have collaborated with various daycamp programs in the city bringing positive Afrocentric musical arts programming to over 1000 youth per summer.
